The Original Six battle between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs went in the former's favour, as they claimed a 2-1 overtime success.

Scott Laughton gave the Leafs the lead 4:46 into the game, before Simon Edvinsson ended the frame with game-tying goal.

The Red Wings had more of the shots throughout the whole contest 59-48, putting serious pressure on the Buds in the third period.

It was a similar case in overtime, where the hosts mustered just one attempt in the three minutes and eight seconds before Dylan Larkin ended the game with his goal.

Once more, Detroit find themselves level on points with the Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes at the top of the Eastern Conference, with this being their third win on the spin. Meanwhile, it is back-to-back losses for Toronto, who are just outside of the playoff places.
Colorado Avalanche 1-2 Anaheim Ducks (SO)
The Anaheim Ducks enjoyed a 2-1 success over the league-leading Colorado Avalanche via a shootout in Denver.

Jeffrey Truchon-Viel gave the guests a surprise lead 87 seconds into the second period. Although the Avs were on top in the contest, they were the ones chasing the game.

Having had 56 shots throughout the clash, the Avs did find their equalizer towards the end of regulation. With 3:39 left, Arturri Lehkonen levelled score, to the home crowd's delight.

With overtime deciding nothing, a shootout proved to be the deciding factor. Mikael Granlund and Cutter Gauthier converted their attempts for Anaheim, with Colorado unable to find their way past Lukas Dostal. That resulted in the Ducks coming away with the extra point.

The Avalanche have now failed to win three of their last four, although only one of them was a regulation loss. The Ducks, meanwhile, have now won their last five, moving them up to seventh in the West.
